BetUS Offers Future Lines on The Menendez Brothers' Release Date

All Eyes Focused on Big Decision Looming for Erik, Lyle Menendez

The Countdown Starts

The Menendez Brothers – Erik and Lyle –  have been in the news in some form for decades after murdering their parents in California. Thanks to a decision by outgoing Los Angeles District Attorney George Gascon, the case will be reviewed and people are anticipating a Menendez Brothers release date from prison.

So, the hope that they would be released in time for the holidays is in question because DA Nathan Hochman wants to do a thorough examination of the plethora of trial transcripts. He also will discuss the case and ramifications of a release with prosecutors, law enforcement personnel, defense attorneys, and the victim's family members.

Where are the Menendez Brothers now?

The murders of Kitty and Jose Menendez took place on Aug. 20, 1989, in Beverly Hills. The brothers were convicted of the killings and sentenced to prison. California put them in separate facilities for a variety of reasons, including not wanting brothers in the same venue in case they decided to plot an escape.

However, in April 2018, Lyle Menendez was transferred to the Richard J. Donovan Correctional Facility Erik was at. At first, they could communicate through letters but eventually were allowed to meet in the exercise area.

A writer said when the brothers saw each other for the first time since 1996 it was a tearful, emotional moment.

That brings us to where they have been since.

Why Do They Claim They Killed Their Parents?

Evidence has come to light recently that suggests the Menendez Brothers’ claim they were subject to a lifetime of physical, emotional, and sexual abuse at the hands of their parents.

An attorney of the Menendez Brothers believes that if that was taken into account at the start of their legal process, they would have been charged with manslaughter and received a less severe sentence.

If that plays into the current situation, it could lead to the Menendez Bros. being released from prison when that is factored into the overall case. DA Hochman will make that decision at some point. There had been hope for an earlier release but Gascon losing the election changed the timing

Could Erik or Lyle Menendez Appear on ‘Dancing With the Stars’?

This would seem to be so far off the radar of a pair who have been incarcerated for decades. But the world is a different place than it was when the  Menendez Bros. were convicted. Anna Delvey, the fraudster and con artist who has received an inordinate amount of media coverage, was on Dancing With The Stars.

The Daily Mail published an article alleging the brothers would be open to being cast on an appearance on DWTS, Once that rumor was generated, everyone took off with it, figuring if they were released they would be a perfect fit for the show. Who knows, in this world, anything can happen and usually does.
