The Eagles have finally declared Gardner Minshew to start at quarterback versus the Cowboys, with Jalen Hurts nursing a sprained shoulder. In 2021, his first season with the Eagles, Minshew completed 41 of 60 passes for 469 yards, four touchdowns, one interception, and a passer rating of 104.8.
Based on a report released by BetUS on Friday, 61.83% of the wagers placed and almost 52% of the dollar volume on the point spread had been bet on Eagles, who are currently +4 1/2 point underdogs.
BetUS began taking action on this game on Monday, after setting an opening line in which the Cowboys were favored by just –2 points. That line came down as low as Cowboys –1, and as high as Cowboys –7 before settling in at Cowboys -4 ½ on Friday morning.
“That line is probably going to continue to move between now and kickoff, and I’d personally like to see it get back up to Eagles +6 or even Eagles +7 for a real Christmas gift, but I'll take the Eagles on the spread here as long as we’re getting points,” says Barry Barger, senior betting analyst at BetUS. “What the public doesn't realize is that Minshew might have starter potential on a team with a less-defined quarterback situation and is one of the best backups in the NFL.”
For many BetUS customers, they don’t even need to get points on the spread to bet the Eagles will fly high this holiday weekend: BetUS reports that Philadelphia has attracted more than 84% of all the action bet on the ‘money line,’ or outright winner, as of Friday morning.
