The Mauritius Open will be played from December 15 -18, 2022, at Mont Choisy Le Golf, Grand Baie, for a €1 million purse. The European Tour has been rebranded to the DP World Tour and in its 6th edition is co-sanctioned by the DP World Tour and the Sunshine Tour.
It is the largest professional golfing event regionally and the fourth largest on the African continent.
Oddsmakers at BetUS.com have set Thomas Detry and Dean Burmester as the co-favorites at +650 odds or a 13,33% implied probability of a win for either one.
In a report released by the online sportsbook on Wednesday morning, Detry currently holds 16% of the wagers with 24% of the dollar volume. Burmester on the other hand holds 13% of the total wagers with 27% of the dollar volume.
“Although both Detry and Burmester are co-favorites to win the tournament, 37% of the wagers are on Niklas Norgaard Moller (at +3200 odds) with 16% of the dollar volume.” Says Barry Barger, senior betting analyst for BetUS.
Let’s keep in mind that the Danish golfer earned a promotion to the DP World Tour after finishing 16th on the Challenge Tour’s Road to Mallorca Rankings.
