Online sportsbook BetUS.com reported Sunday morning that 61.02% of all bets and 58.18% of the total dollar volume bet against the spread have been bet on the Patriots, currently the +10 underdog.
But bets placed on the outright winner, known as the ‘moneyline’, are a different story. As of Sunday morning, BetUS says that 61.54% of wagers and 69.45% of the dollar volume bet on the moneyline has been bet on the Packers.
The Packers are currently priced at -450 on the moneyline, meaning a bettor would need to risk $100 to make a profit of just $22.22 (a $100 bet would return $122.22, which includes the return of the $100 stake). The Patriots are priced at +350, meaning that the same $100 bet on the Pats would return a total of $450 (the bettor’s $100 is returned along with $350 in profit).
“What the late data says, basically, is that the public is confident in a Packers win, but not by 10 points. The public is betting on a Packers win by a touchdown, or a field goal,” says Barry Barger, senior betting analyst at BetUS.
